Mackinaw River

When you want to go on vacation, you don’t need to have a bunch of white sandy beaches to help you with your relaxation. In the past few decades, the Mackinaw River has changed dramatically. Because it is now surrounded by farmland, the river itself has changed and shifted. Yes, this river is not necessarily going to be a place for waterskiing, unfortunately, because of the protection of the wildlife, but maybe just gliding down the water can be adventure enough.

One of the best ways to explore the Mackinaw River is to take a boat and simply glide down the river until you get to another major city. This will allow you to spend some quiet time with your family and friends, while also giving you a glimpse of what the lands now look like, now that the farmers have moved into town. You will be able to see the larger industrial farms, producing the foods that you eat everyday. And you will also be able to smell what a farm smells’ like, so be forewarned. Taking some pictures along the way, you can begin to understand what the heartland is and what it means to be in the middle of it all.

Planning Your Vacation

Before you go to the Mackinaw River, you might want to investigate other tourist offerings around the areas where you might launch your boat. This way, you can begin to craft an entire vacation, not just one day on the river. It’s also a good idea to look for places where you can rent a boat so that you can have something to ride down the water. Ideally, you will want to go with a group of people and enjoy the time with friends. But if solitude sounds like a good vacation, then that will work too.

No matter what you do when you’re on the Mackinaw River, you can enjoy the outdoors and the humidity, without having to fight off tourists or to deal with long lines at the bar.
